March 2008 sees the launch of brand new company Newton Resources, a fast moving and forward thinking company established to provide top class resources to the education market at the best prices.

Why the name? With the growing importance being placed on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Newton Resources has set out to provide top class resources for Science, Maths and ICT across the primary and secondary curriculum. And of course, Isaac Newton was an eminent scientist and mathematician, so the name “Newton” seems only fitting!

With over 6 years combined experience in the education market, with Philip Harris Education and Economatics Education, the two Founders and Directors of Newton Resources have an enviable background which they believe will only help to strengthen their company, and ensure that their knowledge translates in to the best value products on the market, the best products to meet the changing needs of the curriculum, all at the best possible value to the customer.

The Directors were advised by Kingswood Corporate Finance, who also assisted by raising additional financial resources through their in-house fund, Kingswood Investment Partners, in order to develop the business, as well as provide fundamental business advice. “Kingswood Corporate Finance is a specialist in supporting enterprise and helping new business start up’s. Without their invaluable input, we wouldn’t have had this opportunity, and wouldn’t have the chance to fulfil some of our dreams” says Graeme Coleman, Joint Managing Director.

But why, when there are so many other companies in the market place, should schools choose Newton Resources?

“We believe in personal service”, says Lori Candlish, Joint Managing Director. “Having worked in a marketing environment in other industries for over 7 years, I understand the importance of the customer. In the education market, I have found the approach other companies have to customer management quite varied, and sometimes lacking!  With such a variation of customers across the board, each approach you make to them needs to be different, and I think this has been lacking elsewhere. Newton Resources’ approach will place the utmost importance on customer service levels, and will mean that both myself and my fellow Director, Graeme Coleman, are the first point of contact for everyone, and we pride ourselves on our second to none service levels. In how many other companies can a school get straight through to the Directors? Hopefully this will set us apart from the competition”.

Exciting product development is also high on the agenda at Newton Resources. “We don’t want to simply adopt a “me too” approach, selling the same as everybody else in the market” says Graeme Coleman. “We have some great product innovation ideas, some of which are under development as we speak. What’s more, these products are a perfect fit for the curriculum, so teachers can not only enjoy using our products, but be confident that they are fulfilling aspects of the curriculum in their use.”

Probably the most important philosophy that Newton Resources is adopting is value for money. They aim to represent the best value on the market.  Lori Candlish added “We are a small company, with few personnel, so this means we can confidently turn our cost-savings into customers’ price savings. With their limited budgets, we know that this is appealing to them! What’s more, for each customer’s first order, there’s something special in it for them – but they need to order first to find that out!”
